1. 1/2oz Hollow-Body Snakehead Frog
Target Species: Northern Snakehead & Trophy Tidal Bass.
Components: 1/2oz white or chartreuse weedless frog tied directly to 30-40lb braided line.
Tactics: Walk frog slowly across spatterdock pad tops; twitch in open water pockets.
2. 1/2oz Vibrating Chatterbait
Target Species: Tidal Largemouth Bass & Snakehead.
Components: 1/2oz green pumpkin chatterbait with a 4-inch paddle tail swimbait trailer on 20lb braid + 20lb FC leader.
Tactics: Rip lure through hydrilla grass edges to trigger reaction strikes on low tide.
3. Tandem Shad Darts & Gold Willow Spoon
Target Species: Hickory Shad & American Shad.
Components: 1/4oz red/white lead shad dart + 1/8oz gold Nungesser spoon tied 18" behind on 6lb monofilament.
Best Spot: Fletcher's Cove & Chain Bridge current seams (April-May).
4. Finesse Ned Rig (1/6oz Mushroom Head)
Target Species: River Smallmouth Bass & Walleye.
Components: 1/6oz mushroom jig head with 2.75-inch ElaZtech stickworm on 8-10lb fluorocarbon leader.
Best Habitat: Chain Bridge boulder pools, Dam 4, and Point of Rocks ledges.
5. 3oz Slip-Sinker Cut Bait Circle Rig
Target Species: Trophy Blue Catfish (20lb to 60lb+).
Components: 3oz flat bank sinker → barrel swivel → 30" 50lb mono leader → 8/0 Demon Circle Hook.
Best Bait: Fresh chunked gizzard shad or river blueback herring.
6. 1/32oz Micro Tube Jig (Tidal Panfish)
Target Species: Black Crappie, Bluegill, White Perch.
Components: 1/32oz chartreuse/white tube jig suspended 24" below a small weighted pencil float on 6lb line.
Best Area: DC Tidal Basin seawall, Jefferson Memorial shoreline, Anacostia pilings.
